I was invited to play in the Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana FCA golf scrambles the past two Mondays.
Greg Scheer with Nationwide Insurance sponsored our team in the Louisville event, while John Smith (Smitty) put together the team for Southern Indiana’s event. Somehow we managed to win the Louisville event and finish second at the Southern Indiana event. The second was probably due to the presence our the infamous Charles “Sunshine” Williams. Actually Charles holed out a wedge for Eagle, and staked several other wedge shots. The hole-out was one of 3 natural eagles we had on the day at Covered Bridge. The Louisville event was held at Persimmon Ridge.
The golf breakdown is neither here nor there, but what the events reminded me of are the unbelievable impact that the Fellowship of Christians Athletes has on our community, our country and this world. Athletics are so important to kids, families and our world. It may be one of the single greatest tools/environments to reach the youth of our nation. Whether it be youth sports, high schools or college campuses; many an athlete has FCA as part of their testimony.
Get involved with your local FCA.
