I was convicted recently, when listening to Peter J Daniels speak about missions, ministry and the growth of Christ’s church. He said something that struck me- square upside the head. I’ve often thought of the verse that says “the workers are few but the harvest is many” and I’ve only thought about it in terms of physical people going into the ministry. If that is your calling then God bless you, you couldn’t be in a better place. I love seeing and supporting people in ministry because sometimes it seems like the whole world is lost. After listening to Peter J Daniels video, I thought about the same verse except I thought about the workers being the business people who financially fund the ministry. Peter J Daniels says we’re at a point where plenty of people are willing to preach, teach, minister and do mission work, but so few Christians are leading in economic spheres. He’s says we should take back the economics because someone has to pay the bill for all those in ministry. He has an interesting program were he comes to bible believing Christian Churches all over the world and he teaches local members to go into business for the purpose of tithing into the local church and becoming “kingdom builders” as he calls it.The program is called the Gabriel Call.
Here is the link: Tell me what you think.
By the way he comes to your church free of charge. I have spoken to Mr. Daniels on the phone a time or two and he will not allow you to pay his lodging, air fair or even take up a love offering. He will not take an honorarium either. Amazing man. The Gabriel Call is the fulfillment of one of his two major life goals- to put x number of Christians into business to change the world for the next 300 years. His first goal I believe was to see how much money one human being could give away in a lifetime. I would guess he is doing a fine job in that arena as well.
I would to get a group of small business owners together who have this passion in common.
We offer up our tithe at Southeast and support some missionaries but I would be ashamed to stand before the Lord today saying this is what I’ve done with what you gave me. God you put me in the richest nation on the face of the earth in one of the greatest economies in history. You could have put me in Rwanda, Bosnia, Central Africa, Guatemala or a number of other third world countries. You put me here and this is what I did to build your kingdom.
