Putting tips

Posted by Bryce Raley on October 3, 2009 with 0 Comments

For those who love golf, I linked up these videos that have helped me in the past week.
Caution- I have only used these tips twice, once in a quick practice putting session and once in an 18 hole round. The practice session helped me get the feel down and the results from the round were [...]

Don’t play not to lose-play to win

Posted by Bryce Raley on August 18, 2009 with 2 Comments

How did Y.E. Yang beat Tiger Woods head to head this past weekend at the PGA Championship? I have my reason. I have heard many reasons so far and I believe there is some truth to them all.
I believe I’ll focus on the one key thing I saw on Sunday. I saw it a few [...]

Southeast Men’s Golf Trip Recap

Posted by Bryce Raley on June 18, 2009 with 2 Comments

My favorite week of the year is in the books. Now only 350 + days until next year.
My favorite moments of this year, and there were many.

Don Robinson’s Hole in One on #12 at Millstone had to take the cake- plus he bought ice cream for everyone at Dairy Queen as per Smitty tradition dictates. [...]

My Final Four Predictions

Posted by Bryce Raley on March 18, 2009 with 0 Comments

Pittsburg
Gonzaga
Louisville
Memphis
I’ll go with Louisville vs Pittsburg with Louisville coming out on top.
The only stumble I can see is playing Ohio State in Dayton in the 2nd round. That could be tough. Reminds me of UoK versus UAB when they were the #1 overall seed in the early 2000’s with Gerald Fitch and Cliff Hawkins bunch.

What have you done for me lately

Posted by Bryce Raley on February 11, 2009 with 0 Comments

Winning superbowl’s, national championships, world series championships apparently are not enough to keep your coaching job anymore. Wow, aren’t we a bunch of spoiled fans.
It’s amazing after reading Tony Dungy’s first book, that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers let him go after 4 out of 6 years in the playoffs. He had one losing season there [...]

18 Tips to Shoot Even Par Golf

Posted by Bryce Raley on January 15, 2009 with 0 Comments

I wrote this several years ago right after I shot my first even par round of golf. I was so excited that I came home and mentally relived the round shot by shot (actually I do this with almost every round now- and my wife kindly acts likes she’s listening- and I love her for [...]

Golf- Oh how I miss

Posted by Bryce Raley on January 5, 2009 with 1 Comments

Playing golf during the long winter months.
What do I miss the most?
Well let me tell you.
I miss the following in no particular order.
I miss playing even par golf for 10 holes then having one thought about hitting a ball OB on number 11 at Midland Trail golf club. Then proceeding to carry out that thought [...]

Tackling in the NFL is now illegal and punishable by fine a week later

Posted by Bryce Raley on October 30, 2008 with 0 Comments

You heard it here first. You can no longer tackle or block in the NFL. This will change the game, I’m just not sure to what degree. The NFL looked into flag football and also has considered two hand touch as an alternative but neither has been approved at this juncture.
Hines Ward and other receivers [...]

Sports Talking Heads say Manning and Manning are not top 5 QB’s

Posted by Bryce Raley on October 29, 2008 with 0 Comments

Two weekends ago, an analyst on NBC rolled through his list of the top five quarterbacks. I wasn’t paying much attention when he first started talking. I didn’t start listening until after I didn’t hear Peyton or Eli Manning on the list. No Peyton- the Superbowl QB from two years ago. The future hall of [...]

UK and the ghost of Steve Spurrier

Posted by Bryce Raley on October 20, 2008 with 0 Comments

UK couldn’t shed the baggage of not beating Steve Spurrier. He and his South Carolina team even gave the ball to Kentucky 5 or 6 times and my cats still couldn’t take down the aggressive one. Maybe Spurrier will leave South Carolina and land somewhere like Florida A&M. Then maybe they will be in a [...]

Putting up the sticks for Winter

Posted by Bryce Raley on October 20, 2008 with 0 Comments

I think I’m going to winterize the sticks. My last few rounds have been kinda blah. I have played too few rounds lately due to my business and the three small people who run around my house and make noise all night. On the other hand I have played too many scrambles. This was the [...]

Baseball needs to go to a 7 game series or go back to no wild card

Posted by Bryce Raley on October 13, 2008 with 0 Comments

I have an idea. Let’s play 160 long exhaustive baseball games starting in April and ending in October. We’ll play in cold weather, then warm weather, then really hot weather, then warm weather and then really cold weather. After we settle upon who the best and hottest teams are this year, let’s take them sit [...]

The Ryder Cup experience

Posted by Bryce Raley on October 7, 2008 with 0 Comments

Well after reflecting for a while on the Ryder Cup and my experiences volunteering and watching, I put together the best moments for me.

Boo Weekly rallying the troops on number 16 green after his victory Sunday.
Standing next to the ropes on 17 fairway while Justin Leonard and Hunter Mahan slid by right next to me. [...]

Ryder Cup 4some and 4ball pairings

Posted by Bryce Raley on September 13, 2008 with 0 Comments

I think these foursomes would be fun to watch in the fourball competition. The fourball is a 4 person best ball match.
How about:

J.B. Holmes and Kenny Perry -
Hunter Mahan and Anthony Kim -
Boo Weekly and Jim Furyk
Phil Mickleson and Justin Leonard

Fir the 4 some matches which are an alternate shot format.
How about:

Steve Stricker and Ben [...]

The Ryder Cup is here!!!!!

Exciting times if you’re a golf fan. If you’re not a golf fan you’ll pretend like you are this week, as the world watches the Ryder Cup- one of the biggest sporting events in the world. I’m volunteering in retail this week thanks to my next-door neighbor Hal Hedley and the folks at Ronald McDonald [...]

Fantasy Football is about to begin

Posted by Bryce Raley on September 1, 2008 with 0 Comments

If you play fantasy football or if you at least know what I’m referring to when I say “Fantasy Football”; then I’ll give you the scoop on my team this year. I am splitting a team with my good friend Jonathan and I think we did quite well at our draft last weekend. The good [...]

Congrats to Austin Meyer and Ted Schulz 3rd and T-4 in KY Open

Posted by Bryce Raley on August 22, 2008 with 0 Comments

Why am I only congratulating these two guys? Well for starters we attend the same church. Secondly, I’ve gotten to play quite a bit with Austin. Austin finished tied for 4th in the Kentucky Open last week. He has spent the winter, spring and summer playing on mini tours in Florida and the Carolina’s. Last [...]

Are my Yankees are doing the same old thing expecting a different result?

Posted by Bryce Raley on August 17, 2008 with 0 Comments

The Yankees are stockpiling hitters these days. The trades with Pittsburg and Detroit to acquire Nady and Pudge are more of the same formula. Pick up big hitters and hope they score 15 runs per game because that’s about the teams ERA. That won’t work again this postseason if they continue their streak of appearances. [...]
